Our minds hardly ever stop thinking. Our brains move from one idea to another or our attention moves from one thing to the next one. How can we begin to let go of this constant thought process so we can just “be”? We need time to recharge and reconnect with ourselves without the constant chatter going on in our minds about what happened yesterday, what will happen in an hour, how we could have done something differently, and what others think of us.
Try to give yourself even a few minutes a day to sit, close your eyes, breathe and be still. Acknowledge any thoughts that pop up in your mind, then let them fade away so you can return to focusing on your breath. Even though we try to do this in yoga class, it can make a bigger difference in your life when you can do this in any situation.
