Today I want to talk about having grateful heart and the martial artist. Confession time: I forget to be grateful for what I have…often. And I am wondering if you do too? As Taekwondo martial artists, we should all try to incorporate the five tenets of Taekwondo into our daily lives but I would like to add one more thing to that list. I would like to add being grateful. We are constantly running around from thing to thing and often forget what makes us happy. Between work, grocery lists, chores around the house, kids activities outside of the Taekwondo studio, life can feel packed. It can be difficult to see what to be grateful for when there is so little time for ourselves.
I have a solution.
I learned my solution on the 5 a.m. Miracle podcast and it is simple. So simple, you can easily incorporate it into your daily routine. Simply: Think of three things you grateful for and one thing you want to accomplish that day. The things you list can be small or large. Some days for me it’s a good cup of coffee, my family, and nice weather. The thing I want to accomplish is often Taekwondo related but it can be mop the kitchen… Practicing being grateful makes for a grateful heart. I believe practicing being grateful makes for a healthier person inside and out.
So what are you grateful for today and what is one thing you want to accomplish today?
